Sorento LX and S trims are propelled by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Power runs to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Or you can select all-wheel drive for more surefooted all-season handling and control. EX and higher tiers add a turbocharger to the base turbo-four, boosting output to 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. They also get a more advanced 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The X-Line package gives the Sorento a more rugged character with a standard active on-demand all-wheel-drive system, a center-locking differential, skid plates, and exclusive styling cues. X-Pro models add even more capability thanks to unique 17-inch wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, and an increased max tow rating (4,000 pounds).

Technology and Safety

The Sorento has replaced its 8-inch and 10.25-inch infotainment displays with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen powered by Kia's next-gen Connected Car Navigation Cockpit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly, providing clutter-free access to smartphone features like hands-free calls and messages, Google or Apple Maps, streaming media, your virtual assistant, and more.

The Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) delivers a strong blend of performance and efficiency. Offered in a single fully equipped trim (SX-Prestige), the Sorento PHEV boasts 261 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 79 MPGe (miles-per-gallon equivalent). Plus, with an estimated 32 miles of electric-only range, it's a great way to get the EV experience without relying on 100% battery power.

Interior & Utility

The Kia Sorento's cabin is a nice place to spend time, with modern design details, cozy seats, and ample passenger space. A second-row bench and seating for seven are standard. However, if your family doesn't require the extra seatbelt, captain's chairs are available for a more open cabin feel and easier rear-seat access.

Folding the third row expands the cargo area from 12.6 to 38.5 cubic feet. When you need more capacity for an outing or errand, you can fold all rear seats to reveal 75.5 cubic feet.
